QUESTIONABLE SPACE, 2020

Questionable Space is site specific to Nettleham Hall, where Shipley has chosen to take a different approach into documenting the Grade I building. Shipley has constructed and used mirrored cubes to explore the spaces, perspectives and abstractions that come with reflection. Photographing the cubes in Nettleham reflects the spaces that the camera's perspective may not see.

Inspired by Wabi-Sabi (the beauty in imperfection) Shipley has embraced this within her project, capturing the site from all angles, hiding nothing from view. The sharp images combined with the reflections question both the space, and if the cube belongs in the image.

As documentation, Shipley has designed an online book to present these images along with a mock-up of a gallery space, showcasing her images on its walls.
