This body of work explores the world of fetishization, voyeurism and the human body as an abstract entity. Using mirrors as the canvas for abstract paintings of body and flesh, Cryer creates an almost melancholic look into loneliness, isolation, longing and belonging. The mirror’s ability to insert a temporary image behind a more permanent painting could be a perfect commentary on our current situation; trying to grasp some sense of normality and human contact, while the everchanging world around us continues to contort and become even more abnormal.
