Holly Cryer
Cryer’s work often explores the use of art as a vessel for human emotion. Each piece, while containing traditional art mediums, is given a contemporary spin thanks to presentation and use of alternative materials. Cryer’s work always aims to break the boundaries between the work and the viewer.

This current body of work delves into the world of fetishization and distortion. Cryer uses mirrors as the canvas to host a number of paintings. Each mirror displays an abstract, focused body part, placing an importance on each area. By using mirrors, the viewer will witness a break from the normal scenery, as well as forcing focus on to the paintings on the mirrors. The artist plans to capture the work in a series of photographs, with the possibility to create some video work as well. Cryer will be using artists such as Joan Jonas as inspiration for displaying the work.
