Laura Thompson’s themes revolve around nature, fantasy and imagination. Influenced by her love of fantasy films, digital fantasy art and the beauty and peaceful influence of the natural world itself. Her usual media including forms such as Sculpture, Photography, Video and Sound hope to create refreshing works while enlightening people’s imagination, as it can often dull while the monotony of life takes over.
Currently, Laura is working on sound art pieces, capturing the overlooked sound of water droplets onto different objects to create nature’s orchestra. At first the sound remained raw to vocalize the true sound of nature, but after some experimenting some effects were added, at first to make the pieces sound more elegant and peaceful. But after a surprising turn natures music no longer sounds so peaceful. By reversing and stretching the sounds of water this artists has captured natures voice, speaking words of warning, cries for help and other mysterious phrases in a few different languages.
