Chloe Portier-Tock
This artist plays around with various topics from social issues to mental wellbeing. Her current work will be reflective of our ever increasing concerns over climate change, specifically focusing on the fashion industry and its impact on the planet. As much as we all love pursuing the latest trends in fashion, our consumption of fast-fashion is quickly damaging the environment as a consequence.
“What I present to the audience are rather intimate and personal images of my bedroom. The side of me that nobody knows about and yet we all know about. These photographs are an honest representation of a lived-in space and daily life. The fact that my room is almost like what you see in images of piles of clothing in landfill sites is also meant to be alarming. I am not ashamed yet not proud of my excessive accumulation of clothes, but I hope to be relatable in my effort to make people aware of how much we consume and buy into fast-fashion fashion.”
